Artist Statement
My goal is that my work feels like an experience for the mind. I am fascinated by the way that imagery is processed by our brains. I like to work with visible texture so that the tactile senses are also intrigued since all of my senses are involved during my process. As I create, I bounce between the actual feeling of the medium and how my brain interprets it. Suffering a brain injury caused me to process imagery very differently. After becoming aware of how different my mind was, I wanted to capture how it saw the world. My challenge is to lead the eye and mind into the physical dimensions of the canvas until they are continually moving through it; lost in the artwork.
